31 Day Challenge: Day 7- Black and White

Hey guys! Today is the 7th installment of the 31 day challenge. The theme is black and white nails.

My mind has been so preoccupied recently that I keep forgetting to take pictures earlier on in the day. But never fear! I do have the pictures for you all.

One of my favorite shows is the Twilight Zone and it's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that today would be black and white nails.

I love the way these turned out! Though I should have done them a bit more carefully. I thought they were going to be a lot harder to do but I think this is probably the easiest nail art that I have ever done!
I remember a few years back, (11 years to be exact), I had contacts like this. They were my favorite things to wear. I was 17 at that time and worked as a receptionist for an optometrist and she gifted me the contacts.

I used Wet n Wild Black creme and some white acrylic paint.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!!\

31 Day Challenge: Day 6- Purple

Ok ok. So today is supposed to be violet nails but I decided to just make them purple! This post is a bit late today because I've been playing The Sims 3 Supernatural all day! I also have been watching Hocus Pocus. I also got a collapsible light box and an an Ottlite. This week has brought on a lot of fun things!!
I am really loving the way my nails came out!!

I used Hits Powerpuff Girls in Pretty as my base coat. I used various purple acrylic paints. Purple and teal bullion beads and square rhinestones. Oh and star instead of a cherry! My polka dots definitely did not turn out as I wanted. They ended up looking smudged.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make the rhinestones straight? I tried my hardest and they still ended up crooked haha.

Tomorrow is day 7 and it called for Black and white nails! I already know what I am going to do and I am sooo excited!

I hope everyone is doing well!

xoxo

31 Day Challenge: Day 5- Blue

I want to apologize in advance if this post seems rushed because quite frankly it is. I have to go to work in 10 minutes and if this is not posted now then I won't be able to post it until midnight.

Today calls for blue nails. I had a hell of a time coming up with an idea for blue nails. I wanted to do a lot of things but didn't have time. So I settled for stamping. I give credit to those ladies who are absolutely amazing and so creative with stamping.

I used Deborah Lippmann On The Beach stamped with China Glaze 2030 and BM Plate 306.
Gosh I can't express enough how much I love this print!!  It's so gorgeous and I love the color combo together.
Even though this was not my first idea for my mani. I must say that I really love it.

Tomorrow's will be more planned out!
I've got to run.

31 Day Challenge: Day 4 - Green

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Today is day 4 and it calls for green! I've had this idea in my head for a long time now and this was the perfect opportunity to do it.

I used China Glaze Starboard, Wet n Wild Black Creme, black and white acrylic. Chez Delaney plate A37
Looking at this manicure, I wish I used a lighter green. Perhaps next time!

Can I just add how much I am in love with these nails. They are extremely cute.
I feel like my other nails lack. Hmm time to brain storm some more.
The stitches look a bit boring.

I really dig the way my green nails turned out.Hopefully, I can kick it up a notch!

See you tomorrow on Day 5 Blue nails!

31 Day Challenge: Day 3- Yellow

Today is day 3 and it calls for yellow nails.  I work with kids with Autism so two of them helped me come up with the concept by drawing it on paper for me first.
I used China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and Wet N Wild Black Creme. It sucks that it already has tip wear. I'm pretty sure I've had this on for less than 12 hours, most of the hours I was sleeping. It's a love hate relationship with seche vite.

I'm happy to get to posting daily again. Sometimes, life is super consuming and despite painting my nails every day, I just didn't have time to blog. But thanks to each and everyone of you for sticking around and reading my blog.

I hope you all have a safe and fun labor day. I am off to work!

xoxo
Alex

PS. Tomorrow is green nails and I have something amazing lined up!

31 Day Challenge: Day 2- Orange Nails

Hey guys!
Today is day 2 of the 31 day challenge. The theme today is orange nails.
I was watching Doug all day today and it inspired my nails for today. I remember Let Them Have Polish did Nickolodeon nails. So  she is my inspiration on these nails as well. Here is my version:

As you can see, my thumb nail decided to smudge itself and Seche Vite decided the polish should shrink away from the tips. You know how that goes. The base color is OPI He's My Boo and I created the drips with China Glaze Limonyte. I got a new light today that I am absolutely in love with!

Looking at the mani this way, makes me think of cauldron smoking and bubbling. I love Halloween! Hocus Pocus comes out September 4th on Blu ray.

I hope you enjoyed this mani as much as i have enjoyed creating it.
Be safe this long weekend!

xoxo,
Alex

31 Day Challenge: Day 1 - Red Nails

Hello my lovely readers.
Last year, I did the 31 day challenge and completed it. Today I am starting another. I've been short on inspiration so this is perfect timing for me.

Today is day 1 and it called for red nails. I am going to try my hardest to do nail art each day instead of just color swatches and such.

I wanted to do spun sugar nails. Looking back at the nails now, they look kind of morbid. The idea was a lot better in my head! It looks like blood spatter (I don't mind it so much I love the gory and morbid). It took around 10 minutes for it to get stringy enough to be able to pull it across.

I will definitely try this again. I think next time I will use candy like colors. I hope you enjoyed Day 1 of the 31 Cay Challenge.  Remember to check back each day :)

Alex

Nail Files: Nails Inc

Hey everyone!

Today I am going to share some nails inc 3D glitters with you. Nails inc does glitter the way it's supposed to be. They are densely packed and more often than not, you can get away with just one coat of glittery goodness.

First up is Marylebone.
Marylebone is the pastel pink from the collection.
It's nearly impossible to show the purple mirco glitter in it.
The obvious is the silver and pink glitter.

Up next is Maida Vale.
Maida Vale is described as a pastel silvery blue.
But honestly, I see it with purples as well!
This only required 1 coat of the polish.

These polishes are amazing. They are densely packed and can be applied by just painting them on (unlike some glitter that needs to be dabbed). They have an incredibly drying time. That being said, they are thirsty for topcoat!!! They want it all and will stop at nothing. Ok ok I maybe exaggerating quite a bit but they do dry gritty without topcoat.

What do you think?

Until then my dear readers.

xoxo

Stamped!

Hello my lovely readers,
I hope everyone is doing well. I'm still unpacking at my new apartment and it's been extremely time consuming. I've still been doing my nails. These are not the best pictures as they were taken with my iPhone.

I hope you all enjoyed these manis as I have enjoyed creating them!

Nail Files: Nails Inc

I feel like nails inc hasn't  gotten much attention or love. It is one of my top 3 nail brands. They have such a wide variety of colors and finishes. I love the bottles as well as the polish names. They are available through www.sephora.com. I have a friend in England that ships me polishes that are only available over seas. Enough of this plain text. Onward to the colors and photos!

Seven Dials is a soft yet vibrant jade green color. It only took 2 coats to achieve total opaqueness.
Seven Dials has a creme finish.

Foubert's Place has elements of grey, brown and dirty green.
On the nails inc site, it's described as a cool grey khaki creme shade.
I used 2 coats.
Paddington verges on the almost black scale.
It's a deep khaki grey creme.  I used 2 coats but perhaps needed i3 because there was some pulling near the cuticles.
My friend sent me this color and I haven't been able to find it on any site.
Porchester Place is a bright tangerine polish with hints of peach.
The formula is on the thin side but not hard to work with at all.
I used 3 coats because of my ridge filled nails.
Westminster is a gorgeous purple shade with red tones.
It applied so beautifully (like all nails inc polishes).
I used 2 coats.
Chelsea Emabankment.
2 coats. Small yellow gold glitter.
It didn't dry gritty.
I actually like the way it felt dry.
I can;t really describe it.

Hampstead Gardens. 2 coats. Honey Mustard creme. This is a color most consider ugly.
I love it! I don't really care if it doesn't go with my skin tone either. So pretty!
Cambridge Terrance is a silver liquid metal. 2 coats. Not a unique polish but an gorgeous formula!
Last but certainly not least.
Jubilee was released for the celebrations of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
It comes with a crystal cap and is limited edition.
The colors represent Union Jack.
Blue, white and red densely packed glitter with silver micro glitter.
This unfortunately is not available on www.sephora.com
It can be purchased on www.nailsinc.com

Which do you like?

Stay lacquered!

It's never too early for halloween

Hello my loves!
I hope this finds you all well. I've. Even super busy with work, moving and buying car. Feels like everything happened all at once! Things are beginning to wind down and I have somehow figured out to balance it all including blogging. I do miss blogging a lot.

I did this nail art last year but have decided to revisit and revise it. I love seeing how much I have improved.

I also did a googly eye manicure. I have gotten a lot of comments on the googly eye mani.
I am updating from my iPhone to see how the app is. I hope it posts well!!

Nail Files: Nails inc Sprinkles Collection

Hello my lovelies.

I've had this collection for quite some time now because my friend from the UK sent me them. They very recently became available at Sephora here in the US. I have for you, nails inc Sprinkles collection.

Sugar House Lane is a light grayed brown base with matte black and silver glitter.
I used 2 coats because 1 coat had bald though if you applied it more carefully, you could get away with one.

Pudding Lane is a blue based milky polish with navy and gold matte glitter.
On the website, it's described as turquoise. But clearly it's a pastel blue.

Topping Lane has cerise, silver and purple matter glitter in a pink base.
This seriously does look like frosting with sprinkles on top. Yum!

And last but definitely not least,
Sweets Way is the one that looks like most like frosting with rainbow sprinkles.
There is blue, pink, and silver matte glitter in a white milky base.
To be honest, the base look like it's a super super light pink.
I used 1 coat of polish.

My overall impression is that this collection sincerely does not disappoint. Most of them at 2 coaters, though as I said, if applied carefully, you can get away with just 1 coat.
The polish dries very gritty so a thicker top coat is called for.
They are available on the nails inc website and retail for 11.00GP
They are also available on sephora.com for $9.50.

Until tomorrow my lovelies,

Stay polished!
Alexis

Goldleaf

Not everythings that glistens is gold..

BUT THIS IS!

Hey everyone!

Before we get to the manicure, I would like to say that I have finally figured out how to manage blogging and working. I work very very odd hours with the special needs population. Thanks to advice and tips from my friends in the polish community, I have been able to find a balance between the both.

I am going to be moving in a month and a half (Eee! So nervous and excited!) and I have no idea how to transport such large amounts of polish! We shall see and I will keep everyone updated. So until then, I will not be using a light box because I am trying to purge what I move with.

Today I have for you a gorgeous GORGEOUS manicure. And what makes it gorgeous is the gLORIous 22k Goldleaf topcoat.

I will give you a moment to take it all in....
...
...
Ok, are you done? haha

The topcoat didn't evenly distribute the goldleaf for me so I pulled some out with the brush and placed them where I wanted.
I layered it over two coats of Zoya Robyn, a match made in heaven if you ask me.

What do you think of the goldleaf topcoat?

Thanks for reading!
xoxo

Pastel Gradient

Wow. It feels great to be blogging again. My post real post was in February. Since then, I have been super busy working ridiculous hours at work. Despite not blogging, I still painted my nails every day.

It's Friday and it's Great Gradient Friday in one of my nail communities!!!! And it's the long weekend (it doesn't matter to me, I work 15 hours on Sundays).

So as of now, I am sure everyone has seen the amazing gradient tutorial The Nailasaurus has done. Well, The Swatchaholic did an amazing nail gradient using Illamasqua pastels. I had to try it. I had all colors minus Wink so I used Essie Lilacism.

Colors Used:
Illamasqua Blow
Illasmasqua Caress
Illasmasqua Nudge
Essie Lilacism

Can I just say that I loooove the colors?!? It's absolutely amazing! My nails didn't come out as perfect as The Swatchaholic but I'm happy with it. I do need to get a different sponge. I have been using a makeup sponge and it leaves parts of it on the nail. I might just try using a kitchen sponge!

I have to get back into the swing of things again. My lightbox got destroyed and I need to clean up my nails a bit better. With that being said, I am so happy with blogging again. I love my blog layout. Thank you to Sarah from Chalkboard Nails who gave my blog a very much needed makeover. I love my new name. Everything has been just so exciting!

So until tomorrow!

Site Makeover!

It's been well over a month since I have last posted. I was training for my new job for 3 weeks and have been working for the past 2. These past 5 weeks have been exhausting.

I miss blogging. I changed my URL and blog name. Formally known as JeT'aime Lacquer to Technicolor Nails.
I will be giving my site a makeover soon. So as off right now, this site is in the process of a makeover.

We Lacked The Magnetix Connection

Hello my beautiful readers!

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. My weekend was fantastic! I can just hope that from here on out, things pick up.

On Friday, my sister surprised me with some polishes from the China Glaze Magnetix collection. I could not wait to try them out! Without further ado...

This is Drawn to You with the magnet.
As you can see, there are three different designs.

This is Drawn To You.
I did one finger at a time.
First, I used one coat of polish and quickly put the magnet to it.
I count to 10 seconds then moved on to the next nail.
I put a topcoat on and the image just seemed to fade.
I used the diagonal magnet.

This one is Instant Chemistry.
I love love the color.
I used the star magnet and it just seemed off.
The color is great but the magnet was not.

Cling On.
This polish reacted the best to the magnet. The image was crisp and super clear.
I just need to practice with the placement.

My overall thoughts on this collection?
I am disappointed.
I love China Glaze but I am not loving this.
Either the polish doesn't have enough iron
or
the magnet isn't strong enough.
I could't tell you why this polish fails compared to others.

I will not be purchasing any other colors from this collection.

What do you think of this polish?
Any tips on getting it to work?

Alexis

Freshly Picked

Hello my lovelies!!

It's about that time that I crawl out from under my seasonally depressed rock. The winter just really bums me out! I really did try hard to update everyday. I took pictures of my manicure but just never posted them! I'll post them as time goes on.

Today's nail art features juicy red strawberries *smacks lips* YUM!

Ew my cuticles look horrible!! They don't look like that in person!
Base: China Glaze Hey Sailor
Acrylic Paint

See!! The cuticles don't look horrible here.
Anyways, these nails cheered up my day!
It started off dark and rainy.
I am just happy that it's getting warmer
and the days are getting longer!

Lump Off!

Hey amores!
I hope everyone is well. I have been loving this weather we've been having. The only downfall of having a snowless winter is that I haven't been able to go sledding or tubing yet. A few days ago it was in the 60s here!!!! I am craving Spring and Summer!

Today I have for you Lumpy Space Princess and some Lumpy Space People.
Melissa, Lumpy Space Princess, Brad.
Melissa had an accident with my desk.
She got smudged and somehow resembles Kirby.
This was a lot of fun to do and I hardly used acrylic paint.
I mainly used nail polish.
WHAT THE LUMP?!

It's Aquadelic baby!

Hola amores!

I hope every had a great weekend. This weekend was crazy. The people who live above my boyfriend, well, their pipe burst and it started raining in my boyfriend's apartment. We had to go about with an umbrella and rain boots until the property manager came.. It was 4 in the morning!
 I can't believe it's Tuesday already!
Today I have for you a nail swatch. No nail art. I haven't had time.

China Glaze Aquadelic is from the Electro Pop collection. It's a gorgeous aqua creme color.
I had a bit of a problem applying this but with the second coat it was fine.
It was a bit on the thick side.
I used this as the base for the Adventure Time BMO post.

I don't have much of the Electro Pop collection but I fell in love with them.
I will be getting more.

What colors do you like from the Electro Pop collection?

Until tomorrow!

Battery low, shutdown

Hola Amores!

This week has been tiresome. I had an endoscopy on Wednesday and I had an MRI today. I've been throwing up because of the stuff they have pumped into me. I am just happy that we are one step closer to find out why I have been so sick.

I am continuing with my Adventure Time nail art. There is so much to do I am unsure of when I will be done!

Name: Beemo
Gender: None
Species: Robot
Occupation: Video Game System

Yes, Finn, it goes in my butt.
Base Color: China Glaze Aquadelic
Acrylic Paint
The MRI technician fell in love with my nails.
She squealed when she saw them.

I hope you enjoyed this manicure!
I love it!
I think my next one will be Lumpy Space Princess and Lumpy Space People.
I am open to suggestions!

Until tomorrow my loves.

What the lump?

Hola amores!

How is everyone doing? I hope everyone is doing well!

Today I have for you an Adventure Time manicure. Just Finn and Jake. I've been completely obsessed with Adventure Time and it really just reminds me of my boyfriend and I. We make adventures out of everything.
I was on pain killers when I did this so it's not the best that I could have done. But I hold it dearly to my heart!
Onwards!!!

Rescue Beauty Lounge: Locavore
Sally Hansen: Brisk Blue
Acrylic Paint
I'm going to be doing an Adventure Time series.. Perhaps the Ice King or Marceline next?
or my favorite??
LUMPY SPACE PRINCESS.
Looove.

I need a better light source. Which lamps are great to use?
I also think I am going to try the light box with a black background. I feel the color will be better.
We shall see.

Until tomorrow amores.
