31 Day Challenge: Day 3- Yellow

Today is day 3 and it calls for yellow nails.  I work with kids with Autism so two of them helped me come up with the concept by drawing it on paper for me first.
I used China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and Wet N Wild Black Creme. It sucks that it already has tip wear. I'm pretty sure I've had this on for less than 12 hours, most of the hours I was sleeping. It's a love hate relationship with seche vite.

I'm happy to get to posting daily again. Sometimes, life is super consuming and despite painting my nails every day, I just didn't have time to blog. But thanks to each and everyone of you for sticking around and reading my blog.

I hope you all have a safe and fun labor day. I am off to work!

xoxo
Alex

PS. Tomorrow is green nails and I have something amazing lined up!

When The Ball Drops!!

This is the last post of 2011! Can you believe it? This year has been a memorable one! Especially this past week. Three people I know died. It's been a tough week but I am glad they are no longer suffering.

I feel like year, my 28th year, will be a fantastic one. I can say that with amazing confidence. I wish you all a Happy New Year and 2012!! I hope this year is a great one for each and every one of you!!!

I am loving my manicure for New Years!!!
Base color: Wet N Wild Black Creme
Butter London Topcoat
Silver Metal balls from Sally's

My inspiration for this was Lady Gaga.
I am loving it!!
I thought it would have been a lot more difficult to do but it's hard from hard!

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year.

Until 2012!!!!

Nom Nom Nom

Well hello my dears! I hope everyone is doing great!

Today I have a rather odd Christmas manicure for you.. I am laughing as I type this because it is kind of ridiculous. I don't know what made think of doing this. All I can say is that I am grateful for my very random though process.
Base color: Wet n Wild Black Creme
Acrylic paint for the rest.

Do you see how silly it is? I can't stop laughing. It's so silly! I love it! The tree is a bit sloppy because my blood sugars dropped drastically.

I hope you all enjoyed my manicure today. I know I did!!!

Until tomorrow my lovelies!

Snowflakes are kisses sent from heaven

On the 4th day of Christmas, my true love did on me
Special looking snowflakes..

I have a feeling that my readers might get tired of me starting the posts that way haha.
I hope everyone is doing well! Currently, I am watching The Muppets Christmas Carol.. If you have not seen it... well, what are you waiting for!? GO!
I must say, that my passion for nail art has returned. I have almost every day planned so far! I am not letting my health bring me down. A positive view is what I promise to have.

Base color: Wet n Wild Black Creme
Layered with Deborah Lippmann Stairway to Heaven
White acrylic paint for the snowflakes topped with China Glaze White Cap
I tried to make each one different because no two are the same!

I wish I could capture how much it glitters. It looks so awesome. It reminds me of that first snowfall.
The snow where no one has stepped, no cars have dirtied.
We got our first snowfall on Halloween but it melted within a Boston.
I am hoping to have a white Christmas.
What do you like about Christmas/Winter?
What do you think of this manicure?
I love hearing your opinions!

Until tomorrow my lovelies!!!

I Keep Telling You, This Isn't A Few Birds'!

These are gulls, crows, swifts...!
-Quote from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds

My boyfriend gave me the idea to do a Hitchcock inspired mani when I first started doing Halloween themed manis. I forgot about it completely until I opened up my idea notebook and saw it written down.

Alfred Hitchcock is one of my favorite directors ever. I have seen each one of his movies. He always intrigued me. My aunt told me of how she saw the movie on opening day in 1965 and how since that day she has been scared of birds. It's funny really because my family lives in New York for a short time in the 60s, which is home of the pigeons!

 (thumb, middle, pinky)
Base: Wet n Wild Black Creme
White Acrylic paint

(pointer, ring)
Base Color: Ulta Witchful Thinking
Spronged with MAC On The Prowl
Black and white acrylic paint

Doing the crow was a lot of fun.
I planned on doing different birds but during the middle of the mani I felt ill.
So I rushed through the rest.

I hope you all enjoy this mani!
Until tomorrow my pretties!!

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

I've gotten several emails and comments asking me if I do both hands when I do my nail art. The answer is yes. It's hard painting with my non-dominant hand. I take my time with with. It sometimes comes out better than when I paint with my dominant hand!

I also have gotten several requests asking to do a tutorial on my ZOMBIE NAILS, so I plan on doing that first thing November hits.

So this mani I am about to post, could have been executed better. I did it at 4 AM (I suffer from insomnia) and while I was laying down on my bed (lazy me).

There is a reason why I included the spooky eyes and the eyeballs!
The spooky eyes are there because I used to play Bloody Mary and Candyman.
Each time I said their names in the mirror 3 times, I swear I saw eyes!!!

The reason why I included the eyeballs is because when I was around 6 or 7 I saw the movie Phantasm.
When I went to bed I had a nightmare!!
Instead of the little metal ball, it was eyeballs!
Not my best manicure and not my worst.
It was played out a lot better in my head.
But I am not completely disappointed (does that make sense?)

I am not even gonna lie, it's obvious that I am running out of ideas.
A lot of the stuff I want to do, I can't. I don't know how to execute it!
We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Until tomorrow my lovelies!!!

Who Do Voodoo? We Do!!!

Inspired by the great Johnny Thunders song! I have finally fallen back into my niche. I love today's manicure. I am unsure of why this weekend sucked so bad in regards to my nail art. Can't win them all I guess. I was afraid that I had plateaued. Fin! No more nail art for you! So happy that is not the case!!

I enjoy sharing my failed manicure with you all. I will be redoing those manicures those manicures that I counted as failures. ONTO THE MANICURE!

Base Color: Butter London All Hail The Queen
Tan Acrylic Paint
Wet n Wild Black Creme
China Glaze Hey Sailor
Fantasy Makers Night Glow
China Glaze Devotion
The little guy on my thumb looks like if you ripped Barbie's head off then shoved it back on.
NO NECK!!
Ahhh I love it!!!
I don't know what I am going to do with myself when October ends!
I need a better lamp to photograph my nails with.
Any suggestions?

Until tomorrow my pretties!

Dead Man's Bones!!!!

Today, I was inspired by the amazing band Dead Man's Bones. Plus, I haven't done a skeleton look yet, well, not that I can remember!
Right Hand:
Base Color: OPI I Only Date Werewolves
Wet n Wild Correction Tape
OPI Mummy Knows Best
Piggy Polish Nocture-Nail
Today's nails were a lot of fun.
Have you ever done nail art and actually impressed yourself?
Well I am so impressed with how Skelie came out!!!
The bones are another story!!
They are wonky, oddly shaped and hahah I dunno.
Before the clean up. Sheesh, I am very very messy when it comes to doing my nails!
I have a busy weekend ahead of me but I am still going to find time to post my nails.
Until tomorrow my pretties!!!

When The Wolfbane Blooms And The Autumn Moon Is Bright

I was watching The Wolfman (1941.. I DO NOT watch remakes) and got inspired. The Wolfman is one of the very first horror movies I saw as a child.. I was probably 5 or 6 and my uncle was babysitting me. Back then channel 68 would play creature double features on Sundays. Each Sunday he would plop me down in front of the TV and we would watch them together. I love it.
Base Color: OPI Alpine Snow
Brown, Tan, White, Red Acrylic Paint
Sally Hansen Lightening
Wet n Wild Black Creme
So I am going to add this to the re-do list.
I am not sure if I like this or not.
Until tomorrow my lovelies!

Ooooooo!!!

I should be packing right now. My boyfriend and I are going camping with our friends. I know not to pack a lot but still, I like to be prepared. I did my nails before I got brunch with my boyfriend and his family. They all love my nails and are trying ton convince me to open up a small business.

This has had to have been the quickest manicure I have ever done.
It all took around 10 minutes!!!!
Ghost Fingers:
Base Color: Wet N Wild Black Creme
Ghosts: White and Black Acrylic Paint
China Glaze Ghoulish Glow
Boooo Fingers
Base Color: OPI Zom-Body To Love
Booo!: Konad Black
Chez Delaney D04
This is my all time favorite manicure. ALL TIME!!!
It was so easy and so much fun to do.
I wanted glow in the dark nails since I will be in the dark dark woods!

Until tomorrow my pretties!

Slimed!!!

I don't know if it happens to anyone else but every time, I sit down to do my nails. I am needed by a family member to do something so my nails get smudged. It happened twice today!!

This weekend was a great one. My boyfriend and I went to Fest of Flesh. It started off with a metal band, then a burlesque show, the a zombie costume contest, then a horror movie. It went from midnight until 4AM.
We had so much fun. I hope everyone's weekend was just as awesome!
This was so much fun to do!!
Base Coat: Wet n Wild- Black Creme
Slime: China Glaze- In The Limelite
The slime was done with the Orly Dotter Duo
I love doing manicures like this! It's so much fun.

Since my nails are green today, I would like to share with you one of my costumes from the past.
I was an Orion girl and my boyfriend was Captain Kirk (we're nerds).
This took a very very long time to do. I think I spent 4 hours on the body paint.
That does not include the makeup.
Eeeee! I love Halloween so much! I can't wait!
I'll be sharing more costumes from the past in upcoming posts!
I hope you enjoy!

Until tomorrow my pretties!

DO NOT CROSS!!!

Hello beautiful people!!!
I woke up with an awful migraine but still managed to do my nails!
I bring to you today a CRIME SCENE

The crime scene outline looks like it's dancing!!
Base color: Wet n Wild- Black Creme

I am really sorry that my hands look dirty. I have no idea why they look like that. Maybe the black acrylic paint?
Anyways, little did I know, today is the season premiere of Dexter!!!
How perfect is this?!
Until tomorrow my pretties!!

Oh I have a question!
Can anyone recommend me some good nail art brushes??
The ones I have are horrible!!

Pumpkin head!

Today is the most perfect day to start off October. It's rainy and foggy and absolutely dreary here in Boston. It's amazing! I love October here. It's puts you in the mood for fall. Makes me feel romantic.

I will try to do 31 different Halloween/Horror looks for the 31 days in the month of October.
Sorry for the messiness
Pumpkin Heads:
Base coat: Orly Orange Punch
Black Acrylic
Ghosts
Base coat: Wet n Wild Black Creme
Ghosts: White Acrylic, China Glaze Ghoulish Glow

I tried to take a picture of the ghosts glowing in the dark but failed miserably haha
Many many little ghosts!!! Ooooooo!!!

In the next few days, I will be posting pictures from past Halloweens.
What is everyone planning to be on Halloween?

Day 25: Inspired by fashion

So fashion.. kind of a broad theme. So I  chose something that everyone knows. This was hard to choose to be quite honest. I chose to do the yellow outfit Lady Gaga wore in Paparazzi. I didn't have the appropriate yellow.
I went with China Glaze- Trendsetter.
I used a dotting tool Wet n Wild Black Creme.
It was a quick and simple manicure, which was perfect for my day today.
I didn't know how to position the Mickey Mouses (I know they are not Mickey Mouses on her outfit).
I hope everyone had a safe and fun weekend.
My weekend was good, sad, hectic, and fun. Everything you can think of.
Until tomorrow my pretties!

Day 24: Inspired by a book

O___O

That is all I can say about this fail mani.  So day 24 is to do a manicure inspired by a book. So.. the book I chose was: DUN DUN DUN
!!!! This was one of my favorite books when I was younger.
The Goosebumps is still to this day, one of my favorite series..
I am 27! Hahaha

Anyways, I spend the 4 days of the week with my boyfriend and  I don't have many polishes
available to me.  So I didn't have the appropriate colors.
I attempted to do a mummy wrap and failed miserably .
The thumb and pointer finger came out horribly, I don't know what the hell happened!
I used Wet n Wild Black Creme and Butter London Wallis.
NO ME GUSTA
*shakes head in shame*
So sorry to post this but at the same time, I don't see why we can't share
Let's see if tomorrow's manicure is any better!
Until later my pretties.

Day 23: Inspired by a movie

Ok so I meant to post this yesterday but I suddenly got really busy.  I had a family emergency :(, then I went to dinner with friends, then my boyfriend and I had to dog sit. So day 23 of the 30 day nail polish is inspired by a movie. I chose Bram Stoker's Dracula, I love Gary Oldman.
So let me explain what I did.
On the index finger, I chose to do the lips of the girls in bed with Jonathan Harker.
The middle finger is the blood with Lucy get bitten or just the blood in the movie.
The ring finger is sponged to look like a lot of bats in the night (does that make sense?)
and there is always only one that is in focus.
The thumb and pinky resemble the cobwebs around the castle.
What I used:
Wet n Wild: Black Creme
China Glaze: Phat Santa & Naughty and Nice
Aldo: Mardi Gras
Eyeko: Vampira Polish
Sally Hansen: Petal Pusher
Chez Delaney: A37
Again, sorry for the late post!
Until later my pretties!

Day 22: Inspired by a song

I sat at my desk, staring at the wall trying to figure out which song to chose for this manicure. The song I chose is:

                              The Misfits- The Crawling Eye

Base color:
Wet n Wild- Black Creme
Eyeball:
Black, White, Green, Red Acrylic
I really need to invest in some brushes instead of using toothpicks.
At first, it was hard getting the muscles down (as you very obviously can see).
But then I got the hang of it!
So yeah, I am unsure of this manicure. It was great in my head.. then this fail happened.
Oh well!!
Til later my pretties!!

Day 19: Galaxy Nails

What I love about this challenge is that it forces me to try new things. I was too intimidated before to try galaxy nails. I am happy I did. Though my nails didn't come out perfectly, I am super happy with them.
What I used:
Wet n Wild- Black Creme
Sally Hansen- Whirlwind White
Revlon- Electric
OPI- Elephantastic Pink
Sally Hansen- Grape Escape
Sally Hansen- Teal-y Fast
Sally Hansen- Night Flight
nails inc.- Electric Lane
Illamasqua- Jo'Mina
I am very pleased with my nails. I am going top mess around with different techniques and colors and see what I come up with.
Thanks for looking!!!
Until then my pretties!

Day 18: Half Moons

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well! I have an early post for everyone since I am off to a Renaissance faire in a few. This was done quickly, poorly and freehand. Urgh you can tell! Haha
Wet n Wild: Black Creme
nails inc: Chelsea Embankment
No flash!
That middle finder. Womp Womp. It's so sad looking!
I didn't use reinforcements. I might retry this tonight using reinforcements.
Who knows!
Flash! I made that little duckie too!
I am on the fence about this. I wish I had more brushes available to me.
I spend the weekends at my boyfriend's apartment and my nail supply there is very limited.
Ok I am off to see King Richard and his court!
I hope all of you have a great day!!
Until then my pretties.
